The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that works with the pelvis and surrounding soft tissue to create a state of balance. It was designed by Dr. Larry Webster as a safe means to asses SI joint dysfunction/sacral subluxation in any weight bearing individual. It has since evolved into an effective way of treatment for pregnant women. Dr. Webster reported that by restoring pelvic neuro-biomechanics with this technique, it facilitates optimal fetal positioning for babies in a breech position. Pelvic misalignment and the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments can lead to a mal-position of the baby. This technique combines specific adjustments to the sacrum, and soft tissue work on the surrounding soft tissue, including the round ligaments and psoas muscles, to create a state of balance in the pelvis. This new state of balance creates less torsion on the ligaments attaching to the uterus and thus provides the baby more room to move and get in an optimal position for birth.
Dr. Jasmine Jackson has been using this technique since she started practicing in 2008 and has been successful in “turning” breech, transverse lie, and posterior babies.
